ROCHESTER, NY, Monday, May 30, 2016 —
Kodak today announced new OEM partnerships with manroland web systems GmbH and Matti Technology AG to integrate KODAK PROSPER Stream Inkjet Technology. The new integrations will allow the companies to take advantage of the KODAK PROSPER inkjet lineheads’ speed, low cost of ownership and reliability to move into new configurations and applications, including retail fliers, books, and transactional documents. Both the manroland web systems and Matti Technology integrated inkjet systems will be demonstrated in their booths in Hall 14 and Hall 6 respectively at drupa 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
manroland web systems will integrate the KODAK PROSPER 6000S inkjet printing system inline with a commercial web offset press print run and an inline finishing system FoldLine to simultaneously imprint digital sections into retail flyers using full-page CMYK printing at 600×600 dpi with the unique ability to match the speed of the offset line. This integration will allow large retail and grocery stores to print mass-produced pages with customized content while eliminating the expensive and time-consuming process of printing customized sections with frequent plate changes or in a separate offline process.
“By integrating the KODAK PROSPER 6000S inkjet printing system with our commercial web offset printing presses, we are helping our retail and grocery store chain customers customize sections of their marketing material to incorporate store-specific messaging,” said Dieter Betzmeier, Executive Vice President, manroland web systems. “By integrating Kodak’s inkjet technology, creating store-specific messaging will no longer be a slow and expensive process that requires manual changeover of offset plates. Now it is all done as part of the same offset production workflow.”
Matti Technology will use the KODAK PROSPER black and white inkjet linehead to lower the cost of operation and offer a high productivity inkjet solution to replace toner printers. Branded as MonoStream this printer is targeted for cut-sheet and rollfed printers producing books, workbooks, transactional statements and government and commercial notices.
“Utilizing the print speed and quality of the KODAK PROSPER inkjet writing system in our roll to sheet printer will allow us to offer the market a monochrome system that prints four times the productivity at nearly half the cost of laser printing,” said Thomas Amrein, CEO, Matti Technology AG. “We now have a lower cost of operation and more efficient high-volume black and white printer solution with the added value of variable inkjet printing.”
“By working with partners like manroland web systems and Matti Technology, Kodak has combined the inherent productivity and flexibility of the KODAK PROSPER imprinting systems with the integration capabilities and industry expertise of our partners,” said Dan Denofsky, Director – Partner Business Development, Kodak. “Together, Kodak, manroland web systems and Matti Technology have propelled Kodak’s inkjet technology into new applications that would not have been possible without close cooperation.”
