Sometimes, there is simply no alternative to a pioneering spirit, courage, good instincts, and a strong and innovative partner at your side. This is how it was for Arnsberg-based Interprint GmbH, the first decor printer to invest in industrial wide-format single-pass inkjet printing technology from Koenig & Bauer. And this spirit of courage has reaped rewards – earlier this year, the company started production on what is already its third RotaJET press.
“To be a pioneer, you need a vision for the future which is worth pursuing – and it has certainly been worth it: our presses have opened up many new production and design opportunities. Variable job volumes, flexible production sequences, new colour combinations and longer repeat lengths are just a few of the factors that make the presses so interesting for our customers,” says Robert Bierfreund, managing director of Interprint GmbH. “In addition, as a decor printer, we can now offer our customers a whole new spectrum of services. This begins with expediting the mutual development of new products and designs, including the production of the first samples; it extends to flexible monitoring of customer orders, and culminates in an outstanding print quality that continually amazes our customers,” Robert Bierfreund adds.
Creative audacity notwithstanding, business aspects are, of course, the ultimate focus – after all, what is the benefit of exceptionally stable print quality and a high print resolution if the press is not an economically viable proposition? The modular design of the RotaJET means that the press is also an interesting option for small or mid-size companies. The press can grow to satisfy the user’s production capacity requirements.
Robert Bierfreund: “We have built up the most extensive digital decor printing capacity in the world today. The future is digital, but at the same time digital is already reality. The interest that our customers are showing in digitally printed products is increasing exponentially – and I am not just talking about low-volume jobs. The fact that the optimised processes and savings effects also enable the economical production of medium and larger volumes is a particular advantage.”
This is not least due to the fact that the presses do not require the use of expensive inkjet-optimised decor papers, along with the different pre-coating systems and materials that permit a flexible response to all sorts of customer requests.
The latest RotaJET from Koenig & Bauer allows Interprint to process web widths up to 225 cm. This places the company in a position to offer digital production for all the typical formats demanded by the decor branch. Its forward-looking decision in favour of digital print has certainly paid off for Interprint GmbH. All it took was pioneering spirit, and a strong and innovative partner.
